Distance Does Make the Heart Grow Fonder

First off, this summer has been crazy with shooting, buying a house, traveling, and a myriad of other happenings (all to be shared in good time).  All of those exciting things have kept me from my blog.  I’ve missed the land of sending my thoughts and photos off into the great void wondering who might click the link and have a look into me.  I am happy to say I have TONS of photo sessions and weddings to share with you and I can’t wait to get going on the list.  First off is…

The very soon to be Mr. & Mrs.  No, seriously.  Brandon and Jennifer are getting married on Saturday at the Ritz Carlton in Amelia Island.  I’m so excited to share in all of the festivities of their day, but first the engagement session.  Jen and Brandon met one hot Florida summer while he worked at the Ritz.  They had fun chilling at the beach and watching movies.  At the end of the summer over Dairy Queen blizzards they made the decision to continue to date even though they were going to be miles apart attending separate schools.  (I so admire that). On their 5 year anniversary Brandon planned a picnic at the beach where they made that perfect decision to continue their relation after a summer of fun.  As the summer thunderstorms began to roll in Brandon led Jen to the safety of a canopy he had set up.  They enjoyed a quick lunch and then the skies let loose.  In the midst of the rain and thunder Brandon asked Jen to spend the rest of her life with him.  She, of course, said YES, and in less than 48 hours she’ll be his Mrs. and he her Mr.

Brandon & Jen, I’m so happy for you guys and I cannot wait to celebrate with you both.  Thanks for allowing me the great pleasure of photographing your love story.  See you Saturday morning.  :)

Until later…

Christmas Mini Sessions

Can you believe it’s just about 3 months until Christmas?!  It feels like we just entered 2011.  If you’re anything like me you probably procrastinate with the whole gift buying  process and are wrapping things up on Christmas Eve.  In fact, last year my Christmas cards turned into New Year’s cards…which may become a tradition for me (or at least my business).  This year a lot has been going on and the thought of Christmas shopping and all seems a bit overwhelming so I’m beginning to think about trying to get some gifts early.  We’ll see how that goes.  I’m on the same line of thinking for Christmas mini sessions.  Last year I did them in November and things worked out just fine but I’m thinking October would give everyone plenty of time to get their cards ordered and addressed in a  timely fashion.  So, if you’re ready for to get in front of the camera and take that awesome Christmas card picture give me a call.

I look forward to hearing from and can’t wait to document your lives.

Until later…

Outta Here

Hey friends and family!  So, I’m headed out on a little vacation.  I’m going to try my darndest to really relax so I will try to stay as far away from my email and phone as possible.  Knowing me I’ll check it multiple times a day but just in case I can actually make myself chill & recharge I just wanted you to know that I’ll be in touch with you as soon as vacation wraps up.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Pictures to follow.

Blessings, Meghan

Baby Boy Ballard on His Way – Jacksonville Maternity Photography

Deb & Jode are one of my favorite couples.  They got married on my 30th birthday and when I walked out to meet the party after their wedding ceremony they all broke out into Happy Birthday…how sweet is that to think of me on their day!  They are two of the sweetest people around.  Their hearts are tender and they have a genuine southern appeal to them.

I was super excited to hear they were expecting their first little Ballard.  I got even more excited when they said they would be in town for a baby shower and wanted to get some maternity photos done.  We had a great time revisiting the site where Jode proposed and the cute little baby shops in the neighborhood where they first lived as husband and wife.

Deb & Jode, I think the world of you guys and I know you’re going to be amazing parents.  I wish you all the best.  Meghan

This is where Jode proposed!  How sweet!

Until next time…

The Shlipak Family – Jacksonville Beach Family Photography

The Shlipak family is one of those families that when I walk away from their session I think to myself…I hope my future family is like that.  The love, the laughter, the thoughtfulness  - it’s what family should be about.

Thanks, Andrea, for giving me a call and setting up such a great session with your family.  It was a pleasure meeting each and every one of you.  You guys are beautiful and greatly blessed.  Enjoy!

Until next time…

Bryan & Kristen – Jacksonville, Florida Engagement Photography

A few months ago one of my monthly specials was a competition to win a free mini session.  Kristen went all out getting all of her friends and family on board to win the prize.  She blew everyone out of the water.  After she won and we began to discussing ideas for her and Bryan’s engagement session I got super excited.  When we finally met at a marina by the river Kristen opened the trunk to reveal a bunch of DYI goodies that she had prepared for the wedding and shoot.  I was in prop heaven.

It was a great pleasure working with them both on this shoot.  They did a spectacular job and their love for one another seemed so natural.  They are a perfect fit and I’m so excited for them to be tying the knot a little later this year.  Oh, and come to find out Bryan and I are friends with the same people but had never met…small world!

Bryan & Kristen,  I had such a great time with you guys and thanks for all your hard work to make the shoot such a great success.  I wish you all the best and we’ll have to plan a dinner some time with our mutual friends (maybe at my new house).  Enjoy!

Until later…

Ryan & Matt – Just Because

Ryan and Matt started dating in the 7th grade.  Beat that all you high school sweet hearts!  That’s true love and dedication if you ask me.  If I had married my 7th grade crush…let’s just say Whoa!

Ryan contacted me to do some photos of her and her hubby because he was about to be deployed for a year.  I can’t even imagine living a whole year without my love.  I have to honor and respect Ryan and every other woman or man who has to go a year without their mate.  We met down by the river and had a great time documenting their special, one of a kind love.  I love the way they laugh, have their own little “things” they do, the way they cuddle, and the way their love is just so real and natural.  They are blessed!  Meet Ryan and Matt.

On a side note.  I’ve entered a photo in a contest on Facebook.  If you’d like to vote please go to Faythe’s page and “like” it.  Then go to photos and under contest find my photo and “like” it to vote.  I could win some really cool stuff and if I do I just might be offering all of you something as well.  If you haven’t visited my Facebook page you could hope over there as well and “like” it too.  Thanks for your help and all your love.
